The definitive outdoor fibre pile shirt. Windproof pertex 6 outer shell, side zips which cut out draught through the front, pile inner which wicks moisture away from skin or base layer to the outside. It's not waterproof but water evaporates from pertex faster than it can soak up, so you do not generally get wet, and keeps you warm and comfortable all day.

Usually worn snug-fitting to keep out draught. This garment works most efficiently when worn next to the skin.

Sizing is important as the shirt should be close fitting without being restrictive.

Truly Essential - One of the best pieces kit you'll ever own.

I first bought a green Special 6 Shirt back in 2001 primarily for military and outdoor use. It has never ever let me down and one of the best pieces of all weather outdoor kit I've ever owned. Extremely well built, robust, windproof and has decent rain protection. Wear next to skin or part of a layering system in extreme cold conditions. Or for heavy downpours stick it on underneath a proper waterproof. I've even worn it under my dry suit while scuba diving! It is genuinely the best shirt Buffalo make in my opinion. I take mine everywhere with me all over the world-all year round as it has become a very versatile piece of kit for me, keeping me warm when needed in all conditions in both winter and during chilly summer nights. I outgrew and sold my green special 6 shirt (as one does when you get older) and purchased a larger black special 6 shirt in size 42 from Silvermans in 2021 - (Twenty years after I bought my first one!) There wasn't anything wrong with my first green shirt except it didn't fit me anymore and I'm sure it would've lasted another 20 years! I can't recommend the Special 6 Shirt enough and wouldn't look to buy a similar shirt made and copied by many others such as the "Smock"
a version made by Thrudark. I have a Thrudark Shroud and wear my Buffalo Special 6 underneath when it's extremely cold in heavy downpours - Making it extremely bombproof!! Buy once and it'll last decades. Buffalo Systems even offer a repair/replenish service if needed without the need to buy a new one. No other brand does this. You can also add a Buffalo DP hood (purchased separately) and you can't go wrong. Silvermans has been and remains my no.1 go to retailer for high performance outdoor and military kit since the 1990's.
